Claims financial audit
A structured examination of how insurance claims settlements, recoveries, and reserve movements are recorded in your claims accounting books.
Who this is for
Finance and claims controllers who need an independent opinion on whether claim payments, recoveries, salvage credits, and reserve changes are posted completely and to the correct accounts — for a stated period and portfolio.
What you receive
- A scoped sample of claim files drawn from the period under review
- Tracing of selected settlements from application extract to general-ledger posting
- Testing of recoveries, excess collections, and write-offs against source documents
- A written findings pack with exceptions ranked by financial impact
- A closing briefing with your claims accounting and finance leads
What is included
Working papers for the sample, a management letter style summary, and a schedule of recommended ledger and control adjustments. We do not restate your statutory accounts or replace your statutory auditor.
What is excluded
Statutory financial-statement audit opinions, actuarial valuation of outstanding claims, and live claim adjudication on open files. Those remain with your appointed auditors, actuaries, and claims handlers.
How the work runs
- Scoping call — portfolio, period, applications in use, and access constraints.
- Data request — claims extracts, chart of accounts mapping, and sample frame.
- Fieldwork — file reading, posting tests, and exception follow-up with your team.
- Reporting — draft findings, management comments, then final pack.
Typical duration is four to eight weeks depending on claim volume and how quickly extracts and file access are provided. Work can be delivered from our Johor Bahru office with scheduled visits, or largely remote where secure file share is available.
Preparation
Nominate a single coordinator in claims finance, confirm which claims applications produce the posting feeds, and freeze the period under review before sampling begins.
Fees and next step
Fees are quoted against portfolio size, claim-type mix, and the number of applications feeding the ledger. Request a scope call with the period and portfolio you have in mind.
